A 72-linear meter suspension bridge that connects Brgy. Elizabeth to Leyte town center was finally inaugurated on July 28, 2017. Said Kalahi-CIDSS project with a total project cost of 5,223,500.00 was funded by DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS with the aid of Japan Fund for Povert Reduction (JFPR) through the Asian Development Bank (ADB). “The moment I stepped on the bridge I couldn’t stop but imagine myself in a wedding dress on a red carpet. The feeling is so surreal. I could not contain my happiness. Finally, the bridge is here.”, Kalahi-CIDSS BBSPMC (Brgy. Sub-Projcet Management Committee) Chairperson Lydenia Gacosta said. Brgy. Elizabeth is one of the 30 brgys. in Leyte, Leyte. It is situated along the Taverna River that runs across (6) six barangays in the municipality. The community is geographically separated from the town center of Leyte where basic social services are accessible and agricultural goods are sold. To reach the other side of the place, the residents need to ride flatboat or by swimming. However, this is also dangerous, especially during rainy season.
